Male Call Canada Technical Report
Male Call Canada captured a nationally-representative sample of men who have sex with men (MSM) unlike any other to date. Men in every province and the territories participated, and from communities of all sizes – major urban, urban and rural. We heard from men in 41% of Canada’s postal codes and closely matched Canada’s population distribution by province. 45.4% identified as straight, bisexual or otherwise and 54.6% identified as gay pointing to the diversity of MSM in Canada. With 33.2% of callers from rural areas, a group of MSM we always knew were there have now been heard from, pointing to the need for health services geared to MSM both inside and outside of major urban areas.
Male Call Canada’s findings help inform front-line workers, policy makers and researchers, those in clinical settings who work with MSM. and gay, bisexual and other MSM, about current and on-going issues.
